Embedded Networking CarRing II: A Real-Time Computer Network as Successor of Flexray?
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a proposal how to avoid today’s problems in car electronics, mainly controllers, with respect to scalability, usability and effectiveness. Contemporary car controllers lack of common standards in data exchange as a consequence of incompatible field buses and protocols, while intra-car communication is increasing at the same time. A dedicated, fully-fletched, real-time computer network is presented that is capable to replace all types of field buses in cars. CarRing II exhibits functions from 7 ISO layers, instead of layer 1 and 2 functionality field buses such as FlexRay or CAN. CarRing II aims at general intra-car-communications from a system’s perspective and can be used to connect arbitrary sensors, actuators and controllers to a distributed mechatronic system. It optimally supports future x-by-wire driver-assistance systems. Its main goals in comparison to field buses are better usability and effectiveness as well as better reliability and real-time capability.

CARRING II: A Reliable Real-Time Network
The paper introduces CARRING II, a further developmentof the CARRING communication network. CARRING is a reliable, ring-based, real-time Local Area Network (LAN). It was developed to connect e.g. mechatronic systems in cars, but it is also applicable to general LANs. The proposed network tries to solve the known problems of LANs with bus topology, e.g. limited scalability or limited reliability...
متن کاملAn Effective GA-Based Scheduling Algorithm for FlexRay Systems
An advanced communication system, the FlexRay system, has been developed for future automotive applications. It consists of timetriggered clusters, such as drive-by-wire in cars, in order to meet different requirements and constraints between various sensors, processors, and actuators. In this paper, an approach to static scheduling for FlexRay systems is proposed. Our experimental results show...
متن کاملTime Synchronization in Automotive Ethernet Networks
There are many different time-critical Ethernet applications in the automobile. They include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with cameras and (radar) sensors, real-time audio and video streams, and backbones for synchronizing various physical domains (Figure 1). Another use case is on-board data logging. Moreover, devices networked via Ethernet must naturally also be synchronized with...
متن کاملWays to transition from classic CAN to the improved CAN FD
CAN FD gives the automotive industry a new foundation for better networking solutions in areas where bottlenecks have been occurring for years now due to growth in data traffic in vehicle electronics. This situation has resulted in compromises and makeshift approaches such as subdividing a network into multiple buses, which drives costs higher. However, switching from CAN to the higher performa...
متن کاملDesign of Embedded WEB Remote Monitoring System Based on μC/OS-II Operating System
Isolating embedded system has not been adapted to current development tendency. More and more embedded systems need networking for communicating with each other. μC/OS-II, which is a typical embedded real time operating system and contains a kernel without network protocol, has been widely used in a large number of embedded systems. So it is of significance to join network protocol into μC/OS-I...
